What Are The Best Skin Care Products For Adult Onset Acne?

Life is so unfair. You head through your teenage years with fabulously clear skin. Everyone else has pimples but you are a zit free zone. And then, wham you hit 30 and suddenly you have spots! Now you start looking for the best skin care products for adult acne.

But before you head off on a shopping spree you need to find out why you have suddenly fallen victim to zits. What has recently changed in your life?

If you have started a faddy diet - you know the ones where they tell you not to eat carbohydrates etc, this might be the cause of your adult acne.

Have you started exercising in a bid to get fit? While all the experts tell you to get yourself fit, they forget to mention that initially exercise can cause a zit attack. One theory is that all the excess sweating can cause blocked pores. Another is that your body expels toxins when you exercise. I believe it could be a mixture of the two.

If you have ruled out diet and exercise as the cause we need to look at your hormones. Have you started a new contraceptive? Some birth control pills cause acne. I am assuming you are not pregnant as you would know that wouldn’t you?

If you have had other symptoms such as excess facial hair or extreme tiredness, you need to go to your doctor and have a full medical check up as they may be an underlying problem.

Are you stressed? Well let me rephrase that - we are all stressed. The only people not stressed are those who are dead already. Contrary to what the media would have us believe, we need a little bit of stress to keep life interesting. But when stress becomes a problem i.e. causing panic attacks or sleepless nights it can also lead to acne.

Try treating your breakout with over the counter skin care products for adult acne. You will be looking for cleansers, toners and moisturisers that contain retinoid - a vitamin A derivative. The retinoid helps to reduce whiteheads, blackheads and inflamed nodules. Don’t overdo it with the toner – they work by stripping the oil out of your skin. We all need a little oil to keep skin supple otherwise it will get dry and flaky.

Another over the counter treatment antibacterial agent is Benzoyl peroxide but be warned, this can leave your skin flaky and dry so follow the instructions carefully.

If you have large pustules, your doctor may prescribe a topical antibiotic i.e. a cream that you apply to your skin. If that doesn’t work, you may need a course of oral antibiotics.

An alternative to skin care products for adult acne are home treatments. Put an apple through a blender and apply the resulting pulp to your face leaving for 20 minutes before washing off. Make sure you use a light moisturizer afterward or your skin will get too dry. If you at least do this at least once a week, you should notice a difference.

Fighting Acne

A Simple, Yet Effective, Method for Acne Treatment

Acne can be a troublesome and irritating condition, effecting millions of people worldwide for a variety of different reasons. There is a multitude of products available via both prescription and over the counter which can offer supposedly wondrous remedies to even the most severe acne conditions, but their efficacy is at best variable.

An acne sufferer could, in theory, spend an awful lot of money on products and effectively what are snake oil remedies, yet they will be no closer to actually solving the problem of acne.

There are, thankfully, some skin care routines actually have been proved to be effective by clinical studies. As with almost anything medicinal, the results vary dependent on the person, but the majority of treatments that have some kind of clinical basis actually advocate less expensive methods of acne prevention and cure.

One of the most recognized treatments is a simple three-step method, which involves cleansing, the application of a chemical product and then good moisturising. All of these products can be found cheaply, and what’s more, they have a good level of efficiency on most acne cases.

Using such a skin care regime is also useful for acne sufferers who are unwilling, or at least doubtful, about using antibiotic drugs to fight acne. It is far preferable to avoid antibiotics for non life-threatening conditions, so a skin care regime that has a similar level of efficacy as antibiotics should ideally be considered by all.

1. The first suggestion on this three-step regime is to use a light, gentle cleanser on all skin that is prone to acne (even if there is no acne in the area at present). The purpose of this cleanser should be to remove surface oils and nothing more; don’t select a product that claims to have acne-fighting properties for itself, that stage is dealt with on the next level.

2. The primary treatment is in the second stage, and involves the application of the chemical benzoyl peroxide at a strength of 2.5%. Benzoyl peroxide oxygenates skin, and acne cannot form on skin treated with this method. A cream or lotion containing 2.5% of the active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, can be bought at most pharmacies – simply check labels.

3. The third step is a finishing act, and should involve use of a good quality moisturizer which is applied when the benzoyl peroxide has been absorbed. This helps lessen the effects of a chemical irritation on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide is known to make skin flaky and dry in some cases, and the use of a proper moisturizer will counter this effect.

These three steps, used together for a concentrated period of time, have an extremely high chance of succeeding in ridding you of your acne once and for all. Remember that you need to be consistently applying these steps.

Nutrition For Beautiful Skin

The foundation of your beauty comes from the skin. If your skin is dry, cracked or otherwise injured, chances are good that it will show in your skin no matter how much make up you put on. One way to improve the quality and look of your skin is to use a quality product designed to do so.

The other way, which may be best, is to eat foods that can do much of the work for you. The food you eat is a direct reflection of what your skin looks like. The question is, then, which foods should you be eating to have great looking skin?

First, choose foods that are full of antioxidants. You want to ensure that these foods are in your diet because they keep skin looking healthy. They even work very well at aiding in improving the quality of your skin as you age.

Choose foods that can do this for you. For example, to get Vitamin A, eat dairy. For Vitamin B, look to bananas, red meat and wheatgerm. For Vitamin C, look to peppers, kiwi fruit, tomatoes and oranges. For Zinc, choose foods like seafood, eggs, cheese and mushrooms. Iron is also important. You can get this from red meats and seafood.

Next, consider the moisture level in your skin. If your skin is dry, you may need more essential fatty acids. Don’t worry. These are not products that have a lot of grease in them. Rather, they have natural, necessary fatty oils that your body needs. You can get Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils from foods like salmon, tuna, and nuts.

Work to eat more of the deeper colors of fruits and vegetables in your diet. This makes it much easier for you to get the antioxidants you need without having to count grams. Also, keep in mind that a diet that is rich in these nutrients may feel hard to come by.

When this is the case, don’t be worried about using supplements. A number of supplement combinations are on the market containing all of the nutrients listed above. They can aid you in improving the quality of your skin.

If you have been living a not so quite good lifestyle, the following three quick tips shall give you a good start into living a lifestyle that promotes healthy skin and inner being.

1.) Eat lots of green, leafy vegetables. These have the main nutrients that can remove years off your physical appearance and skin. Green vegetables are considered to be a great anti-aging food to prevent those lines and wrinkles from appearing too soon. Specifically, spinach, broccoli, lettuce, and any other green vegetables are perfect to keep your skin young and healthy.

2.) Cut out most sugar and salt from what you are eating. Sugar and salty foods contain elements which can easily give more years to your appearance. When doing a grocery, always check the labels. Avoid those that contain high amounts of sodium content, as well as fructose and high corn syrups.

3.) And finally, eat most of your vegetables raw. When you don’t heat and cook your vegetables, you are preserving all the anti-aging nutrients and ingredients therefore these will go directly to your body and sometimes dramatically reverse the damaging effects of aging. Cooking or heating these vegetables can still retain some of the nutrients; however these are broken down so that what you consume is less than the amount of the natural ingredients.

If you haven’t started it, now is the time to do it. A change to your eating lifestyle can give you a long way towards achieving the vitality and youthful glow while slowly reversing the process of aging process.

Rid Moles
